 Help the Black Cockatoo

Thursday, March 09, 2017

Can you help the plight of the black cockatoos?  Lucky is an incredible bird who almost died after being shot. But Lucky is just one of up to 200 black cockatoos being recklessly shot down each year.

The really shocking thing is that these endangered birds aren’t found anywhere else in the world. Unless we do something right now, the unique black cockatoos of southwest Australia could disappear forever.

That’s why your help is so urgently needed - can you donate today?

With population numbers already so low, the impact of losing even just one bird can have a severe impact on the next generation. My team are doing everything they can to help these birds survive, but they simply can’t do it without your support.

By donating today, you can help:

*  End illegal shooting
*  We’ll be calling on governments to spend more and do more to end illegal shooting and ensure that the hefty penalties for shooting these native endangered birds are better enforced.

*  Restore their habitat
*  By planting food plants we can ensure black cockatoos have more places they can safely eat, feed and raise their chicks.

*  Safeguard their future

Your support is needed to fund vital tracking technology that will track Lucky and three other rehabilitated cockatoos on their release – so we know what parts of the landscape we need to protect for them.

Right now, you and I can still fight back on behalf of these amazing birds - but we have to move fast.
