Course Profile

This course is designed to assist Pet Shop Managers and Staff prepare for the application of a NSW Fauna Dealer (Live Reptile) Licence, and for people who are housing and caring for reptiles.

Delivered online with one half-day hands-on practical workshop, this course is self-paced, and should take approximately five weeks to complete.

By successfully completing this course you will achieve the nationally recognised unit of competency ACMSPE311A provide basic care of non-venomous reptiles from the Animal Care and Management Training Package, which is a qualification recognised Australia-wide.

Focusing on the 15 reptile species that can be traded by a licenced fauna dealer in NSW, this course will provide training in identification, behaviour, housing, handling, health care, feeding and record keeping, and providing customers with information and advice.

This course is a pre-requisite to Advanced Reptile—Python, Lizard & Turtle Car (27628) which is a pre-requisite to Advanced Reptile—Venomous Snake & Crocodile Care (27627).

Dates: Online learning commences Tuesday 25 February 2014. Practical workshop will be held 9am–12 noon Saturday 15 March at Richmond College.
